What will happen now to the estimated 160,000 labour shortage in BC?

Now that Canada has fallen into recession, I wonder what will happen to the predicted 160,000 labour shortage that were reported by the Conference Board of Canada back in October 2008. The report took into consideration various factors such as immigration patterns, education and retirement statistics in making the projection. What the report failed to account for is the possibility of a deep recession. Two months ago, some economists doubt that Canada will not fall into recession. Now we are in recession, and some are saying or perhaps hoping that the contraction in the economy will not be as bad as in the US and in other parts of the world. I hope not.

Vancouver Snowstorm

I've never seen so much snow as we are now experiencing in my four years here in Vancouver. Since the snow started falling about two weeks ago we've had subzero temperature each and everyday. Highly unusual for Vancouver. Even my friends from work who have lived here in Vancouver all their lives seem to think that it's the worst they've seen so far.

I hope we'll get a reprieve from this bad weather before boxing day this Friday.
