USD Credit Card for Canadian Citizens and Residents

I thought I'd follow up on my earlier post regarding banking for the recently landed immigrants. Today I received my RBC Centura Visa card and have activated it over the phone. It just makes life easier for me whenever I am in the US. No more excessive foreign exchange rates and the notorious 2.5% fees Canadian credit cards charge on top of all purchases made outside Canada.

RBC USA gave me a Platinum Rewards card with a high credit limit. It's loaded with a lot of features such as auto insurance, extended warranty and travel insurance. I find it interesting that the US branch would give me a Platinum card when the Canadian branch only provided me with a Gold card.

Anyway, the nice thing about this card is that it is linked to my main account here in Canada. Unlike my BMO US Mastercard, this card does not require one to be physically present in a branch to pay the monthly balance. The account can be completely managed online. How sweet!
